Michael Darko

Mr. Darko is a prolific dealmaker who has worked in Investment Banking with J.P. Morgan on Wall Street covering, Energy, Oil and Gas and Natural Resources. Michael has also worked with IC Securities Holding Limited in various African countries executing deals and managing funds. Prior to that, Michael worked in the engineering and construction space where he has considerable experience in Project Management and Value Engineering.

Michael has an MBA from the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan in the USA and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science from SUNY, New Paltz in New York.

Michael is an avid golfer and a member at Achimota Golf Club.

Prior clients/projects include:

• Advised Gamesa Corporation on $750 million cross-boarder transaction involving equity placement, tax equity capital and long term hedge contracts for 400MW portfolio which was acquired by Algonquin Power.
• Created financial models including DCF and sum of the parts analysis for valuation, investment returns and J.P Morgan credit exposure on the tax equity side
• Prepared marketing materials including teaser, CIM and management presentations
• Participated alongside senior bankers and lawyers in extensive negotiations with buyers and sellers
• Arranged and executed debt and private placement issuances totaling over $1 billion for Sempra Energy ($600mm), CMS Energy ($500mm), Wisconsin Public Service ($300mm), Laclede ($125mm) etc
• Responsible for credit risk analysis using company financials and rating agency adjustments to arrive at pro forma credit rating view and present at investment committee meetings
• Created private placement memorandums and coordinated multi-discipline teams for diligence calls, road shows and project execution
• Secured internal firmwide approval for transactions by building and presenting the business case of the firm’s various internal financing and fairness committees, business intelligence group and compliance teams
